Tropiniai kunai vol 1VMU art gallery 101 (Muitinės st. 7, Kaunas) states “New Season Now!” with the event-cycle “Tropical Bodies / Bodies of Tropes”. The first part of the cycle will start with „Tropical Bodies / Bodies of Tropes vol. 1” on 29 September, Friday 6 pm as an exhibition of Eglė Ruibytė.

Exhibition of EGLĖ RUIBYTĖ. Different projections of the world images created by scientists, when treated as formula patterns, become aesthetic frameworks. They linger in an artificial and banal although specifically acceptable and desirable image. Projections as tools for depiction slide through the surface of selection and adaptation. This observation of complexity of information and truth becomes as looking at Nature, water or fire. The floating of the agile image and the concept is calming.

The exhibition space acts as an in-between state of information, power and desire.

TROPICAL BODIES / BODIES OF TROPES. The cycle of events “Tropical Bodies / Bodies of Tropes” encompasses a research spectrum between the imagined geographies and the embodiments. By despacializing the gallery and its identity it will be turned into a body – through a trope as a metaphorical language unit and the tropics as a loose geographical establishing point. The cycle will focus on mental and corporal movements by enacting exercises such as exhibition, performance, reading. The cycle will last for around one month and will allow the (almost) newly established in-between academic space to experience transitional moments and to draw collective coordinates.

The cycle curated by new director of the gallery Vaida Stepanovaitė will reveal itself slowly till the end of October.
The image was made by Eglė Ruibytė. The exhibition will be open till 13 October, I-V 11 am-5 pm.
