On Friday, May 9th, Riga Photo Month presented a lecture by French photography expert, curator and consultant Marc Prüst held at the National Library of Latvia. Marc gives his personal vision on photography as a medium, and as a visual art and raises questions such as ‘What makes photography interesting?’ ‘What is unique about the medium?’. By tracing the historical technological developments some context to photography and its different applications is provided.
Riga Photo Month is a new international photography festival taking place for the first time in the Latvian capital in 2014 and becoming a part of the European Capital of Culture. The festival aims to make Riga into a meeting platform between Nordic and Baltic photography worlds, giving rise to mutual dialogue and new ideas.
