soboleva_tear_line_62_2The main purpose of the photography project OTHER, arranged in the port city for the eighth year in a row, is to unite authors, working in the field of photography, give them opportunity to present themselves in exhibition space and thus attract attention to their art as well as stimulate integration into already formed artistic area of Lithuanian photography.

On the other hand, the project aims at provoking a discussion on the concept of contemporary photography, focusing not only to the tendencies of Lithuanian photography but to those of foreign countries as well.

The aim of the project OTHER 8 remains the same – it keeps presenting the audience of Klaipėda with the new names and the authors’ works of art yet unseen in Lithuania. Three foreign art photographers participate in the exhibition this year: Anastasia Soboleva (Russia), Christopher Nunn (Great Britain) and Evita Goze (Latvia). The young artists present three photography projects on the theme of conflict.

Evita Goze (Latvia) presents the project “On Guard”, which approaches the relationships between masculinity and army and violence.

Christopher Nunn (Great Britain) presents the project “Holy Water”, which documents the everyday life of war-ravaged Ukrainian people.

Anastasia Soboleva (Russia) presents the project “Tear Line”, looking at the conflict between South Ossetia and Georgia.

The opening of the exhibition of the project OTHER 8 is on the 18th of August, at 6 PM at KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda).

The exhibition will run until the 10th of September, 2017
