MargeMonko2016At the current exhibition the artist presents her new work that studies choreography of desire and its representation through images.
The exposition is introduced by the installation where the main image is the screenshot of a workout video with Jane Fonda recorded in 1982. The title Jane Fonda’s Workout refers to an endlessly cyclical act similar to housework and housekeeping.
The gym with Palladian windows and Fonda’s colourful lycra training outfit are one of the most vivid elements symbolizing Western lifestyle that Monko remembers from her childhood.
The artist also presents her new photographic series Ten past ten where she has used the images of wrist watch advertisements; and video Dear D that focuses on the contemporary ways of declaring one’s love.
