On Friday, 25th of November at 6 p.m. Dominykas Canderis will introduce “?Perverting” – a hybrid creative stage in ever-changing conditions, at “Kabinetas“.
Dominykas Canderis seeks to present human feelings as a testimony of the distance between reality and virtuality. Nevertheless, objects of desire overflow into the technological cracks and digitize sensual experiences. Abstract body parts become flat, they reflect and inhabit the screen of the pornographic world. The human body, consumerism, the sexualization of human and inhuman are experienced in the hybrid time and field.
In D. Canderis’s manipulations of image the contemporary society is treated as a product of online promotional and sexual satisfaction. In this environment the virtuality lets us experience the unfulfilled physical and social needs, consumeristic and voluptuous phantasies that fill the void as multi-dimensional fakes and copies. Technology becomes a hostage and mean of fetishism as well. All is left is to squint and observe the flash to reality by mass media and all-expansive technologies.
The series of works were created this year and continue to mutate into new casual objects, dimensions and measures in Kabinetas. The viewer is being habituated to the stretched sensual narrative and hybrid erotics. The gaze extends into the fluid reality where the reflection and the object become one.
Dominykas Canderis (LT) studies Sculpture at Vilnius Academy of Arts and recently finished an exchange program at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His works explore the topics of religion and sexuality, and materializes them through graphic design, new aesthetics and product branding. Dominykas participates in local and international art scene, has exhibited at Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond (NL), Eighteen 29 (NL), Art Academy of Latvia, Third International Art Festival of Young Artists Art Session (Kaliningrad), project space Malonioji 6 (LT).
