What is an exposition?
– A presence of the artworks, their hanging on the walls or standing still on the pedestal. Gallery – a space, an exhibition is a process. A particular game.
The position of the balls is changing, depending on the accidental or thoughtful impact caused by the perceiver and by this way changing the exposition itself. Swarm – changing processes – Saulius Paliukas after filling the gallery with installations, analyses situation of relations (including art world too, which is, according to Saulius, relations and peculiar swarm).
Important (No 1): Are we playing as kids also? A ball, as a symbol of a game?
Important (No 2): Not the objects, but processes. Everything is just a link between processes. It’s just we are keen to simplify by putting everything down to objects. Most important are the links.
Often in our understanding we are likely to look at the objects, but not to processes. Even if everything around us are processes. Interaction of various objects and their surrounding, human’s actions as the object is a process, affecting climate change, nature’s change (from its earlier state to agricultural change etc.). About the same and multilayer ways of interpretation with the help of minimal theme / key of expression (in this case – swarm) I want to encourage visitors to think about. (S.Paliukas)
Artistic practice by artist, living in Vilnius, Saulius Paliukas is often based on a choice of particular ideological visual key for particular creative process and it’s issues analyses through creative expression. It is various exploitation of relevant for Saulius theme, it’s checking from various angels of interpretation by choosing different means of expression (painting, installation, object or video). For author is important this philosophical multilayerness of uniting theme – “theme, deepness of this theme and possibilities of different interpretations”.
Recently Saulius analyses the minimal mean of expression – a dot. The choice for a dot in path of creation and the attempt to look at it from various sides: “dot as dots, or dot, as expression” (S. Paliukas).
