Marge Monko’s central interest has been the representation of femininity through video and photo work. She has explored the historical change from communism to capitalism and it’s impact on the image of the worker. The artist carefully researches the everyday history of work in its political context and subjects it to a critical and analytical examination from a woman’s perspective.

Eléonore de Montesquieu’s film is about the first women’s strike in Cerbère, France in 1906 over labor wages. Cerbère is a border town between France and Spain where trains must stop because the width of the rails differs in both countries. Until the 1980s, goods had to be carried from one train to another and the women working in the region were known as “transbordeuses.” De Montesquieu’s film is an homage to these women, using archival material as well memories of the children of the workers.

Lola Lasurt Bachs’s multidisciplinary practice explores displaced time aspects, often in relation to the generation before hers. Lasurt’s film, with the title of Edith Piaff’s song, centers on Spanish synchronized swimmer Andrea Fuentes performance in 2010 at the World Trophy in Moscow.

Caroline Dumalin is an art historian, critic, and curator based in Antwerp and Brussels. Being a regular contributor to the Dutch-language art journal De Witte Raaf, her attention focuses on reviewing emerging or underexposed artists, as well as spaces with manifestly independent programmes. While having previously worked at Galerie Micheline Szwajcer, as of 2013 she was appointed Assistant Curator at WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels.
