Ubiškės3 invites applications from artists for a residency taking place from 14 August to 3 September 2025, centred around the themes of magic and alchemy from a queer perspective. The five selected artists will develop new work during the residency and present it publicly as part of a one-day festival on 30 August 2025.
We invite artists to explore the themes of magic and alchemy as rich and complex frameworks for artistic research. Historically intertwined with the origins of science, these concepts offer fertile ground for engaging with rituals, myths, and archetypes, while opening up deeply sensory and multi-layered approaches to making.
Ubiškės3 is an independent, DIY (do-it-yourself) residency space located in the village of Ubiškės, surrounded by the Byvainės forest in the Žemaitija region. The residency aims to decentralise access to contemporary art production, creating a space for experimentation, exchange, and community-building in a rural context. The site consists of two restored farmstead complexes with areas for both living and creating.
