Marija Griniuk, a performance artist from Kaunas, Lithuania, working in Finland and Norway, will present her latest work “Transcorporal Site and Action” at the Startelpa Performance Festival in Riga. The performance will take place on Sunday, June 18th at 22:00 at the second floor of the Art Academy of Latvia, in front of the integrated stained glass windows.

Griniuk’s performance will incorporate elements of her family history and the village of Ilgakiemis in Kaunas district, combining storytelling with vocal improvisation, sound generated from Lithuanian bread by electronic instruments, and brainwave activity translated into sound and visuals. The performance will explore the connection between art, personal experience, and technology.

Marija Griniuk holds a PhD in performance art and works with postcolonial memory, Lithuanian history, and exile themes in her artwork. She works and performs internationally in Lithuania, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. “Transcorporal Site and Action” by Marija Griniuk is supported by TelepART and Nordic Culture Point Mobility.
