On Saturday, July 20 at 6 pm, Entity space, located in the cultural center SODAS 2123, will host an opening of an exhibition “Dino kąs” by the artist duo allsofeatherlightseven (Žygimantas Julijus Bėrontas and Gabija Liucija Pernavaitė). Unrestrained, enigmatic, eclectic and even dreamlike – that’s how Entity curators describe these young artists. Of course, allsofeatherlightseven will present their work (and themselves) most aptly in the exhibition opening on Saturday.
The young artists, who won the JCDecaux Grand Prize in 2022, will use their duo’s abstract approach as a tool to arouse curiosity, provoke and introduce the surprises of contemporary art.
Invited to introduce himself, Žygimantas Julijus Bėrontas says: “Creation is like an underground world where usually unnoticed or misunderstood Beings (recently – Fly, Snail, Makita vacuum cleaner and many others…) gain a voice and find a space to tell their story. While searching how to expand and connect the boundaries of different disciplines and to find alternatives to conventional narratives, Žygimantas is assisted by cockroaches and other various Dwarfs. After graduating from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and Media Art, Žygimantas continues his artistic path by taking part in exhibitions, illustrating publications, writing texts, …, dancing, participating in unofficial “The most sophisticated sandwich” contests, and so on. For Žygimantas, being born under the sign of Aries, creativity is also a form of rebellion against boredom as well as a way of igniting himself and others to see reality in a new way, to realize its multi-layered and magical nature.”
Gabija Liucija Pernavaitė (or, perhaps, Pamela27) also tells about herself: “It’s a big job to draw a line. When you’re 25 or even 30, you can just do things – it’s like entering through a curtain door of shiny stripes. / Throughout her art, Pamela27 paints a vivid picture (using a spectrum of expressive media – text, sculptures, performance, chance, etc.) – a world with bird houses and around the corner, on the map, expectations fulfilled on the radar. She speaks of friends who have left, there is room for missed opportunities in the corners of history – sometimes you need a place to hide the passage of time. There is a lot of thinking and reliving in the imagery; friends are particularly important, like bumps in a (board) game, the potential of a plant, a curl for tomorrow. Pamela27’s work is a spell for the wonders of the dense dampness of the underworld and the fluffy and shining overwood. These wonders are always on, like a cross-section in a way or a flash of unexpected white, or wings that are seen and outlined with the contour of attractive white feather; emitting the colour of love, places, spaces covered with tiles; built inclusions.”
