“Transitions” delves into the complexities of identity and belonging. Three distinct artistic projects explore the concept of home, both as a source of comfort and discomfort, and the experience of uprootedness in its various forms.

„Another Place“ by Kristaps Priede explores the complex relationship between identity and genius loci, through the story of Latgale: its special character and the culture of the local people.

„Home, Uncanny Home!“ by Darya Korolkova challenges our notions of home and belonging, inviting to rethink our roots and self-identity.

„In Search of Home“ – embroidered photo series by Ula Kociūtė tells an intimate and yet timeless universal story of homesickness, examining the struggles of finding a sense of home and belonging in a new place and country.

15th of April, 4 pm, during the “Stitching Conversations” event, there will be an opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists in a creative process of embroidering a shared fabric. Liucija Dervinytė will hold a conversation with Darya Korolkova and Ula Kociūtė about the creative work and its impact on society. Everyone is welcome to join, either as a participant in the creative process and conversations, or as an observer and listener.

This creative session, initiated by Liucija Dervinytė, is part of her artistic research project “Rhizomes of Connections”. Project started in 2021 and was joined by over 50 participants on various occasions embroidering the same piece of fabric. Conversations taking place during the creative process explore the ideas of nature, culture and sustainability. The project looks into the role of art in contributing to cultural change, creating connections and transforming the dualistic nature-culture worldview.

Embroidery talk session will be held in English. The creative process will be recorded and filmed.
