Until 26 March, Francisco Belarmín’s exhibition “The inexhaustible darkness hides between the flashes of the rainbow surface” is on view at the InTheCloset: Vilnius gallery (“Bėgių parkas”, 10 Pelesos Street, Vilnius).

In the exhibition, Chilean artist Francisco Belarmino presents his extensive practice using digital animation to question contemporary image production and its impact on the construction of individual and collective identity. Belarmino’s work reflects on the loss and transformation of mediated content, and his critique is not only about the use of mass media as a system of social control, but also about the way in which images are produced in the production chain. Through his installation works, using sound, voice-over, moving images and other elements, he invites viewers to reflect on the conditions and mechanisms of image production and the role of the viewer in this process. Belarmino’s works take various forms, such as video projections, single-channel videos for different screens, or photographic images in dialogue with moving images, often accompanied by accompanying elements.
