Galerija ALMA presents Reinis Dzudzilo’s first solo exhibition NEVER ENDS from 27 January to 11 March 2023. It will be followed by Krista Dzudzilo solo exhibition in March 2023.
The pair of artists have changed the look of Latvian theatre scenography in a historical perspective. Although this is Reinis Dzudzilo’s first exhibition not in tandem with Krista Dzudzilo, it continues the conversation between the two – contraire to Krista Dzudzilo’s series “I Remember Everything”, which Galerija ALMA presented at NADA Miami 2022 in Miami, last December, Reinis presents “I Forget”.
“People coming from one side first discover the word ‘dying’ (mirstu in latvian), people coming from the other side discover the ‘beyond’ (aiz in latvian) and then somewhere in the middle there is the whole word ‘I forget’ (aizmirstu in latvian). The artificial light object, the candlestick, where the LED lights speak the language of current, consists of 35 candlesticks, as the description of the exhibition says: I have experienced 35 birthdays, 36 springs, and even more winters – 37.
Galerija ALMA has been working with Reinis Dzudzilo since 2020, when the gallery presented their exhibition A L M A M A T E R. In late 2022, ALMA participated in NADA Miami 2022 with Dzudzilo & Dzudzilo work, You Made Me Like Glass, which consists of three free standing mirror objects. The work was specially created for the exhibition “Gallery ALMA @ Padure Manor” in 2021.
