∗intermezzo (in Italian) – a short piece intended to be performed in between parts of a larger composition.
Andres Tali: “The images and transformations that were the source of this set of works have been noted down as fragments during the year 2023, and took their final shape by the beginning of January 2024. I felt the need return to the origins of my creative journey, but as always it turned out to be unachievable – it is impossible to step into the same river twice. Yet, during this process, another way of being has emerged.
There is no need to look for socio-political statements in my work. It is an emotion-based communication from the author to the viewer that relies on the (sub)consciousness in its specific visual language. The author does not intercept the stream of consciousness with brutally mundane comments. Perhaps this is his statement about the contemporary condition.
The preparation of the exhibition was going full steam ahead, when in the middle of January, a blind chance in the form of an accident intervened. The completion of the works proved impossible. But maybe it was better that way, as the works have more sketchiness, air and emotionality, and are much less bluntly finished.”
