Box Seats. Ridadevaheline plows a field of blurry authorship and intertextuality, – with attention to things that are tucked away yet held on to. Picking up the role of an indecisive detective, De Jaeger interrogates these objects-in-rest as vessels and fictional catalysts that must contain a multitude of narratives.
The installation contains soft and strong exchanges with practices of Ulvi Haagensen; Mark Foss; Helena Keskküla; Nele Kurvits; Kaisa Maasik; Karel Koplimets; Taavi Talve; Simon Gheeraert; Visible Solutions LLC; Jeremy Shaw; Loora Kaubi; Michèle Matyn; Marcel Broodthaers, Jacques Charlier, Jacques Lizène and co; Dineo Seshee Bopape; René Heyvaert; Guy Mees; Georgia Kung; Frédéric Gaillard, Esther Johnson, Dirk Braeckman and co.; Laure Prouvost; Eva Fàbergas; Yukio Fujimoto, Atsushi Nishljima, Softpad and co; Wade Guyton; Emmanuel Berti, Fabrizia Flühler, Eliane Bertschi and co; José Maria Sicilia; Louise Bourgeois, Thierry De Cordier, Roni Horn and co; Thao Nguyen Pan; Wolfgang Tillmans; Eirik Senje; Valerie Krause; Rune Pauwels, Rebecca Quix, Germanes & Urbanski and co; Aisha Christison, Margarita Maximova; Ulla Von Brandenburg; Vanessa Dislers; Sabīne Šnē; Joe Brainard, Gina Fischli, Morag Keil and co; Nele Tiidelepp; Riin Maide, Sophie Durand, Rodion Furs and co; Tacita Dean; Jaanus Samma, Edith Karslon, Anna Mari Liivrand and co; Brigit Arop, Agné Jokšė and Anna Trell and co; Maret Sarapu, Berit Kaschan; Olev Kuma, Solveig Lill; Yilyn Ma, Denisa Stefanigova, Johanna Ruukholm and co; Helen Anna Flanagan; Andrea Büttner; Kiki Smith; Georges Braem; Sara Deraedt; Diana Tamane; Anna Hints; Louise Hervé, Chloé Maillet; Jorge Louis Borges; Chantal Akerman; John Berger; Sophie Calle; Tony Cokes; Martin Herbert; Audre Lorde, Anu Põder, Jan Verwoert; Tony Duvert; Dagmar Drikx, Remie Vanderhaegen;Mereba; Sarah Noonan; Tim Verherstraeten, Cleo Foole, Elena Op ‘t Eynde; Pavel Bazhov; L. Laura De Jaeger (1995) is an artist working between Tallinn and Brussels. Through gathering, casting and paraphrasing, she searches how the quotidian charges and reshapes objects and spaces. De Jaeger approaches artistic practice as a platform that can be writing, inviting, and organizing as well as material. She holds an MA in fine arts (LUCA School of Arts / EKA), in Cultural Studies (KU Leuven) and has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Belgium, Estonia, Finland and Germany. In 2023, she received the yearly award from Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
