Photo reportage from Rūtė Merk's exhibition 'f(x)' at Vacancy Gallery in Shanghai

Gallery Vacancy is pleased to announce a solo exhibition ‘f(x)’ by Rūtė Merk opening on 14th of July in Shanghai.

The exhibition features new paintings created between 2021 and 2022.

‘f(x)’ refers not only to the formal language of symbols or the scientific worldview – from which the artist takes her inspiration – but also to possible forms or experiences of what is not one’s own, other or alien (xenology).

This is the second show of Rūtė Merk’s painting with the gallery. The Berlin-based artist first presented her work at Vacancy Gallery in 2020 in the exhibition ‘Solitaire’.

Rūtė Merk (b. 1991, Lithuania) received BA in Painting from Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2013 and has been studying at Akademie der bildenden Künste München since 2017. Solo exhibitions include: WT Foundation, Kyiv; Downs & Ross, New York; Gallery Vacancy, Shanghai; Vent Gallery, Vienna; Editorial, Vilnius.

For more information about the exhibition please visit the Vacancy Gallery website.

The exhibition runs until 19 August.
