Open Studio and Artist talk with the painter and poet Manfred Dubov at the KORDON Art Residency

On Friday 21.06 at 18.00 you are invited to an Open Studio and Artist talk with the painter and poet Manfred Dubov at the KORDON Art Residency, Ranna 1, Kärdla, Estonia. Since Manfred is also a former emergency physician and an active trainer, during the artist talk he also shares his experiences in this field.

Manfred Dubov [1] (1986) is an Estonian painter and poet. His oil paintings depict human states, dealing with the connections between the inner world and the living environment, the personal and the collective, the physical and the metaphysical. After graduating from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a degree in painting in 2010, he has had a number of solo exhibitions. (I come from many places at once in Vaal gallery 2018, Rejoicers in the dark in Hobusepea gallery 2020) and group exhibitions (On the other side of the great oblivion sword strike in NART, 2022 -2023). Manfred has written two collections of poetry and he is nominated for the Betti Alver award. In addition, Manfred is a former emergency physician and an active trainer in the field of healthcare.

The oil painting cycle It’s happening now in KORDON depicts various scenes from personal and collective history. A contrast is depicted: the pictures show both health and illness. This is both on an individual and a collective level. At the same time, there is a lot of room for interpretation in the scenes. The paintings are inspired by the Gothic and Renaissance periods as well as icon art.

Moderator is Urmo Vaikla / KORDON curator.

The event is free. Talk takes place in Estonian. Everyone are welcome!
