The Tallinn Print Triennial is seeking a graphic designer (or collective) to create the design and visual communication for the upcoming triennial. The next triennial will focus on contemporary art from the surrounding region and will open in June 2025 at the Tallinn Art Hall Lasnamäe Pavilion. The main exhibition, curated by Marika Agu, will explore the complexities of preserving memory in a constant stream of information, while searching for new approaches to traditional methods of memory retention, taking into account political changes, technological tools, and their development.

The main exhibition of the triennial will focus on the following keywords: memory culture, organic and mineral memory, notes, déjà-vu, amnesia, asemic writing, codes, languages, data carriers, data accumulation and devaluation, melancholy, anxiety, intertwined past-present-future.

Interested candidates are invited to submit 1–3 design drafts that are inspired by the exhibition’s keywords and reflect initial ideas and creative direction. Along with this, please send a portfolio of previous graphic design work and a short cover letter expressing your motivation and interest in the graphic designer position for the Tallinn Print Triennial.

Submission Deadline: October 28, 2024

Submission Process:
Please send your portfolio, cover letter (up to 500 words), and design drafts to tallinn@triennial.ee, with the subject line “Graphic Designer Open Call – Tallinn Print Triennial 2025”.

Work on the project will begin after the winner is selected in December and will continue until the end of August 2025. The position is part-time and paid. The selection of the graphic designer will be made by the Tallinn Print Triennial team in collaboration with the curator.

Graphic designers responsibilities:

  • Develop the visual identity of the exhibition, reflecting its themes and artistic direction.
  • Design the exhibition catalogue, ensuring alignment with the exhibition’s concept and aesthetic.
  • Design all necessary exhibition materials.
  • Create visual content for social media, the website, and press, ensuring cohesive branding and messaging.
  • Design promotional materials and banners for the exhibition in Tallinn.
  • Collaborate closely with curator Marika Agu and the Tallinn Print Triennial team to understand and translate the exhibition’s vision into compelling visual design.

We are excited to see your creative vision and how it can help shape the visual identity of the Tallinn Print Triennial 2025.
