The group exhibition Memory of Nature, curated by Collective Way and featuring Barbora Matonytė, Liudvikas Kesminas, Algirdas Jakas, Eglė Ruibytė, Simona Didvalytė in duo with Jūratė Stauskaitė and Joaquín Mora, will open in Italy, Sicily, on 21 June at the Civico 111 space in Gela. The exhibition will run until 5 July and will be presented as part of the fourth edition of the Biennial “Countless cities” in Sicily and as a pavilion of Lithuanian artists.
The artists of this group exhibition are working in a short residency at Civico 111 as preparation for the upcoming show since 9 June. A press conference introducing the exhibition was held at Civico 111 in May, also attended by Andrea Bartoli, founder of the Farm Cultural Park space and the Foundation.
The Biennial “Countless cities”, initiated and organised for the fourth time by Farm Cultural Park, will be held in Sicilian cities from 21 June to the end of January next year. Farm Cultural Park has been operating in Favera since 2010 and works in the field of urban regeneration, education and related cultural production. The Biennale draws inspiration from cities all over the world and promotes projects, strategies and actions that can create a legacy of lasting sustainable connections and contribute to radical economic, social and cultural change.
This collaborative project is part of LIAA’s ongoing collaboration with the curatorial collective Collective Way and its founding curator Joaquin Mora (Chile/Portugal/Lithuania). Previous collaborations have included residencies, workshops and presentations by LIAA members Barbora Matonytė and Gailė Griciūtė in the summer of 2024 in Portugal at the Aveiro Arts House cultural space co-curated with art&culture platform Canal180. LIAA activities are financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
