SODAS 2123 and the Architektūros fondas invite you to a lecture by architect and researcher Ken De Cooman. In the lecture Architecture of Prototyping Ken will present the BC Architects & Studies & Materials work and the process behind developing innovative building materials.
Ken De Cooman is co-founder of BC architects & studies & materials and Research Associate at the “act of building” junior professorship at RWTH Aachen. He holds a Masters in Philosophy and Architecture, and a Candidate in Psychology. Starting as an architect, Ken De Cooman focused on earth construction, with several projects on the European and African continent. Today, Ken De Cooman is director of BC materials and responsible for material development
BC Architects & Studies & Materials is a hybrid practice, designing and undertaking „acts of building“ towards systemic change in the construction sector. We strive for bio-regional, low-tech, circular, beautiful and inclusive design. We work with our minds and our hands, undertaking activities such as community organisation, material production, contracting, teaching and prototyping. We aim to impact positively on people’s ideas and have an influence on our planet. We act on behalf of future generations.
BC Architects was participating in the Biennale d’Architettura di Venezia 2018 and 2023, in the Oslo Triennale for Architecture in 2014 and 2019, and in the International Architecture Biennale of Rotterdam 2018 and 2021, and is laureate of the BeCircular and Vlaanderen Circulair grant programmes.
