KORDON Artist Film Festival (KOFF) at the KORDON Art Residency in Kärdla, Hiiumaa island

The third KORDON Art Film Festival (KOFF) will take place on August 1–2 in KORDON Art Residency in Kärdla, Hiiumaa island. The program of the festival juxtaposes the self-destructive activity of humankind in relation to its surroundings including temporalities of the non-humans.

In focus is the Kyiv art group ruїns collective. The artists, whose work will be shown includes Ukrainian artists Teta Tsybulyk and Elias Parvulesco, who are the co-authors of several works, including dendro dreams (2017), zong (2019), K-Object  from LL Group (2019) and Salty Oscillations (2021). These films have been screened at the international film festivals and art exhibitions around the world. The films are followed by an online artist talk with the authors.

The program will also include works by Jumana Manna Foragers (2022), Sophia Bazalgette Recents (2022), Marit Mihklepp Every second is kissed by billions of lips (2023) and Marianne Kõrver TrailBaltic. (2023). The films are followed by artist talks with the authors.

Traditionally, KOFF’s program will include experimental and theme-related films from Estonian cinema classics. In this year’s selection there are Kaljo Kiisk’s Madness (1968) and Peeter Toomingas’ One who goes to the spring (1979).

The festival screenings last 1h – 1.5h with a discussion after the films. Films are mainly screened with English subtitles. More info about films and artists before festival.
