How are our projects affected by various collaborations, both with so-called human and non-human others? Can we feel and talk about those others? How many of those others are in us? How much can we trust our senses, our language?

Virtual conversation with artists and creative workshop organizers
December 28th, 6 p.m.
Participants: Mindaugas Gapševičius, Brigita Kasperaitė, Kamilė Krasauskaitė, Rūta Spelskytė-Liberienė
Moderated by Valentinas Klimašauskas

On December 28 Institutio media invites everyone interested to join for a virtual conversation with artists Brigita Kasperaitė, Rūta Spelskytė-Liberienė, Kamilė Krasauskaitė and Mindaugas Gapševičius. This event follows the conversation “Experiencing lives” which took place during the festival “Ars Electronica” and the creative workshop series which was organised later. The discussion will be moderated by writer and curator Valentinas Klimašauskas.

During this rather dramatic period and the Holiday season, we often think about the symbolic transition from the past to the future, from one year to the next. We also reconsider our position in this ever-changing world where so much of what we can call ‘I’, ‘other’, time, instruments and the language we use is changing. These terms sound very different in the current pandemic situation. In this context we are inviting for a lively discussion about our relationship with ourselves and the other, in the light of the recent creative workshops.

Remembering those workshops – in her event “The Plant Oracle” Brigita offered to feel the plant through the flow of electricity between the plant and a human. In “Sourdough DNA” Kamilė sought a dialogue between the material, its surroundings, its geographical area and its owner. In “Rethinking Alive as Material” event Rūta suggested discussing what could happen if we clash cochineal beetles, seaweed, which glows in the dark, kombucha, dancing plant seeds and the green mushroom. Mindaugas invited participants to make and experience their own personalized yogurt.

Discussion language: English
The event is sponsored by Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
Organised by Institutio media.
