The opening of the photographer Aleksandras Šiekštelė’s exhibition ‘Scosso Vive’ (‘Shaken Lives’) will be held on 12 August at 5 pm. The photographic series entitled ‘Scosso Vive’ captures fragments of the daily routine of the streets of Naples.

The author reflects on the two dominant trends in photography ‒ French and Italian: “The French represent details, the significance of a situation and its subtleties. They accentuate the characteristics of an event and the times, whereas the Italian school rejects these aspects, showing no interest in them. Time and information are naturally visualised in motifs. The Italians capture the shadow side of the motif, support naturalness, the cohesion of nature and technology. In my opinion, Lithuanian photography is close to the French style, paying the attention to details, emphasising the significance of an event and its overall mood. In a half-empty bookshop in Naples, I came across a photograph album by Giuseppe Leone entitled “Un viaggio lungo mezzo secolo”. I suddenly realised that I was looking for an “Italian” solution, as if on some kind of Jungian subconscious level. It was not obvious to me, and I didn’t consciously consider it during the many years I spent photographing.” (Aleksandas Šiekštelė)
