“Points of Freedom” – a new exhibition at CUT ART, dedicated to freedom as a process.
CUT ART is proud to present the exhibition “Points of Freedom”, which brings together the works of two bright Latvian artists – Anna Egle and Julija Silova. The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 30, 2025, from 15:00 to 18:00 in the CUT ART space located in the HOFT project at Strēlnieku iela 5, Riga, LV-1010.
After a successful show at one of the biggest art fairs in Latin America – ZONAMACO 2025 in Mexico City, where CUT ART presented both artists, the gallery returns to Riga with a deeply conceptual and visually multi-layered project.
“Points of Freedom” is an exploration of freedom not as a fixed idea, but as a movement, a process and an inner shift. The works of Anna Egle and Julia Silova reveal this notion through different artistic languages – from sculpture and installation to painting and repetitive visual images.
Sculptor Anna Egle refers to Latvian cultural codes and natural archetypes, creating material images of memory, adaptation and fragility. Her works reflect symbols inspired by Latvian Dainas and the concept of trejdeviņi, a number deeply rooted in folk poetry and mythology.
Artist Julija Silova explores freedom through the act of repetition. In her Semantic Satiation series, she deliberately duplicates fragments of the female body, bringing the image to a state of semantic loss. This strategy raises questions about perception, corporeality and inner liberation from habitual visual structures.
“This exhibition is not an answer to the question ‘what is freedom’, but an invitation to enter the process of rethinking it,” comments the CUT ART team.
“It is an exhibition about how one can think, feel and create outside of set formats.”
“Points of Freedom” will run through July 11, 2025. On regular days, visits to the gallery are possible by appointment via the CUT ART website or the gallery’s official social media pages.
