The exhibition ‘Inter Currents’ by Benjaminas Ančeris is opening on the 20th of December at 6 PM at Pamėnkalnio Gallery (1 Pamėnkalnio St., Vilnius). The exhibition will run until the 7th of January 2025.

The concept of time in the modern world is complex and multifaceted. Benjaminas Ančeris’ series of paintings explores the transformation of understanding time in a rapidly changing technological and social context. In the era of digital progress, time is no longer just a unit of measurement, but also a symbol of personal and collective living, reflecting pace, pressure and continuous movement.

The works in the exhibition explore how the perception and sense of time shapes human conditions – anxiety, strangeness, blurriness – and the efforts to adapt to ever-changing circumstances. Bright colours, boundary markers, targets and the symbolism of movement form the language of the artist’s visual narrative, reflecting the rushing world and the human being within it.

At the heart of the series is the notion of collision, symbolising a destructive but pivotal moment when the flow of time stops and makes room for change. Such a moment of “human time” becomes a liberating step, allowing one to rethink one’s place and meaning in the world.

Benjaminas Ančeris’ new exhibition invites us to reflect on the dimension of time as a cultural, social and personal experience. This dialogue on the flow of time and its impact helps us to better understand the pace of contemporary life, the tensions and the human struggle to adapt to a world where change is the only constant.
