Xaro Castillo works by comparing personal experiences with those myths and iconography that throughout history have contributed to create a certain collective cultural imagination. From various figures from classical mythology – Demeter, Medea, etc. – and other figures of Christian iconography she builds a personal image in which the divine-human and religious-secular concepts become dynamic concepts that feed on a conflict of continuous subversion of each other.
Agustin Fructuoso. My work has to do with the search and nostalgia of an area of peace and serenity that sometimes it concretes listening to some musicians and it fainted it in a very powerful way. The year 1970 making a charcoal drawing of a greek sculpture and trying to make perceptible. A hand of the figure that was in the darkness, it wasn’t noticeable but it was there. Now, after 46 years, I’m aware that all of my work has consisted in going back to that moment.
