The exhibition ‘Avian Milk’ by ‘COSMIC Industries of Tomorrow’ is opening on the 3rd of December at 6 PM at the VAA gallery ‘Artifex’ (Gaono str. 1, Vilnius). Established in 2023, this partnership aims to preserve Lithuania’s status as a space nation.
Founded by a trio of young, like-minded artists, the collective explores a shared nostalgia for the vastness of space. The exhibition centers on the fusion of Lithuanian and space-themed pop culture, transformed into objects and installations.
Using nostalgia and irony as catalysts, the trio crafts a dreamlike journey of the Independent Republic of Lithuania toward the boundless expanse of the universe. Central to this journey is the company’s most ambitious project: the satellite Avian Milk 321, which sends signals of hopes and dreams to Earth and other, currently unknown, destinations. Icons of the past, such as the replica of Juozas Mikėnas’ The First Swallow, undergo subtle transformations, while the Puntukas boulder embarks on its own path. The exhibition is led by a small wrapper that has lingered in their pockets for a long time, a shimmering “swallow” that unfolds its wings throughout the exhibition spaces.
The future of Rytojaus KOSMO Industrijos is an unequivocal intention to work across time and space.
