The group exhibition ‘A14-3608’ will open on the 14th September 4pm. in the former culture house of Kriaunos (Sartų st. 14, Kriaunos, Rokiškis district municipality). It will feature works of the artists Violeta Bubelyte, Alvydas Lukys, Karina Kazlauskaite, Andrius Kviliunas and Klaus Leo Richter.
The former culture center in Kriaunos, once a versatile venue for theater performances, movie nights and village meetings of all kinds, stands empty for around 30 years. If you look at the building’s construction, subordinate to its functionality, in contrast to its location, the village of Kriaunos with a population of around 200, it is difficult to ignore the symbolism of the building as a marker of the urban-rural divide of our time. But the building can just as well be seen as a link between urban and rural infrastructure. In this very spirit we named the exhibition after two roads connecting the capital with Kriaunos. For one month the walls of the former foyer, the theater stage and the canteen will be transformed by artworks of renowned artists and photographers from Vilnius, together with artists living in the region.
