Language is what distinguishes humans from other animal species. But in reality created by words narratives are surprisingly flexible, unreliable. In ‘Tower of Babel’ linguistic fiction is explored by the documentary means.

The method used for investigation of people is similar to scientific research of animal behavior and migration. Distance and sometimes emerging language barrier provides an opportunity for analyzing humans as if they were another animal species.

Installation format in two screens works as a sensory laboratory, where true perspectives of concrete place are revealed. The tension between visible and audible is explored by maneuvering between the visitor’s different zones of perception on the basis of natural experience: an image can be observed closely when conversations stop covering it.

Audiovisual installation ‘Tower of Babel’ by Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė and Dovydas Korba opens in POST gallery (Laisvės av. 51a, 4th floor, Kaunas) on 27th December (Saturday) at 6 p.m. and will be on view until January 4th, 2015.
