ArtVilnius’23 Art Fair Welcomes Applications

The best Lithuanian and international art galleries and artists meet once a year at the contemporary art fair ArtVilnius. The fair, which will take place on 13-15 October at Litexpo, invites art galleries to apply.

ArtVilnius’23 will be held for the 14th time at Litexpo, the largest exhibition and conference center in the Baltic States. The 12,000 square meters of Litexpo space allows the fair architects to plan modern solutions for the layout of the stands each year, and the participating galleries are given a considerable area of 28-49 square meters each.

Last year’s ArtVilnius was attended by 70 art galleries and institutions and 320 artists from 18 countries (Ukraine, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Sakartvelo, the Netherlands, etc.) A similar number of participating galleries is planned to be selected by the fair’s selection jury this year as well.

ArtVilnius’23 maintains its format and in addition to the main program of art galleries, it presents the Project Zone with the collections of world-renowned artists, museums, and art foundations and institutional expositions (curated by Valentinas Klimašauskas). The exhibition of sculptures, installations, and performances Takas (The Path) (curator Vytenis Burokas) will also be open. The tradition of selecting the best galleries and artists will continue, with a program of discussions, lectures, talks, and other additional events.

Every year ArtVilnius has a certain theme – a highlight – and this year’s theme is performativity. The context of the art fair will provide an opportunity to look at the concept of performativity in an open and creative way, to talk about performativity and the broadest interpretations of this term. The organizers of ArtVilnius’23 emphasize that the theme of performativity is only a suggestion for galleries to contribute to the development of the fair’s theme; all media are traditionally welcome at the fair: painting, printmaking, drawings, sculpture, video art, photography, installations, etc.
