The popular annual exhibition of the Estonian Artists’ Association will take place from 20 June to 14 August at the Tallinn Art Hall and Art Hall Gallery on Freedom Square, and will present a cross-section of art created in the last year.

Also represented will be the Kogo and Vaal art galleries. The exhibition will be designed by Valge Kuup Studio.
The participants at the 22th Annual Exhibition of Estonian Artists’ Association were chosen by a jury consisting of Vano Allsalu (Vice-President of the Estonian Artists’ Association), Riivo Anton (art patron), Elin Kard (President of the Estonian Artists’ Association), Stella Mõttus (gallerist at the gallery of the Vana-Võromaa Cultural Centre and Kanal Gallery) and Siim Preiman (curator at Tallinn Art Hall). According to the jury, the general level of applications was extremely high: 72 artists were selected for the exhibition from 244 applications.
According to Vano Allsalu, transgenerational questions as well as different works and authors addressing one another are one of the most exciting levels at this exhibition: “At the Spring Exhibition of the Artists’ Association, Estonian art reveals itself to be a species-rich ensemble: it is a manifestation of diversity and a meeting place for different artist identities, spiritual attitudes and visual handwritings. We will get a sense of which topics and feelings that are important in their eyes and hearts.”
Stella Mõttus, member of the jury: “Being part of the Spring Exhibition jury has provided me with an excellent opportunity to get a glimpse of the activities of Estonian artists over the past year. In the future I would like to see more artists from South Estonia participating. Nevertheless, the final selection was varied and I am looking forward to seeing how the artworks will resonate with one another in the exhibition space.”
Choosing the audience favourite has also become a tradition. Art patrons Tiit Pruuli, Jaan Manitski, Riivo Anton, Aivar Berzin and Rain Tamm have put forward a prize of 5,000 euros for the winner of the audience vote, which will be presented at the award ceremony during the final week of the exhibition. Visitors can vote for their favourite at Tallinn Art Hall and Art Hall Gallery until 7 August. Works displayed at the annual exhibition can be purchased on site at the Art Hall or through the NOBA art platform. A gift voucher of 500 euros for NOBA will be drawn from among all the voters at the announcement of the audience favourite in the final week of the exhibition.
Also published during the exhibition will be the catalogue compiled by Elin Kard and designed by Maris Lindoja. The catalogue can be purchased from the bookstore of Tallinn Art Hall.
As an exception, the exhibition will be open on 20 and 21 June from 11 am to 6 pm, on 22 June from 11 am to 3 pm, and it will be closed on Victory Day and Midsummer and on the following weekend from 23 to 26 June.
The Tallinn Art Hall Foundation is a contemporary art establishment that presents exhibitions in three galleries on the central square of Tallinn – at Tallinn Art Hall and nearby at Tallinn City Gallery and the Art Hall Gallery. The exhibitions of Tallinn Art Hall are installed by Valge Kuup.
