On June 18 at 6 p.m., the exhibition “who is sub net” by the anonymous art project “Sub Net” will open at the VVA Kaunas Faculty Gallery “Muitinė.”

This project seeks to open up a new way of looking at the digital era and its physical manifestations. Digital planes are being mapped, and as a result, the new space resembles an information jungle, whose tendrils are intertwined and tangled like wires. Using glitches and various computer-based approaches, the videos in this project attempt to emphasise not only the uniqueness of the digital world, with its infinite number of programmes and pages, or its chaotic nature, but also its fragility. This spider web architecture embraces the glitch – the disintegration, the stalling, the splitting of the other side of these “ losses of process” to give birth to something newer. This digital world is a constantly renewing organism, containing within itself our entire living world, and more.

Sub Net, which emerged in autumn 2021, is an anonymous new media art project that explores the mirror stage of online identity formation and challenges the promises, politics and power dynamics of technology and capitalism.

Sub Net is a dream that thought it was human. Their work intersects and intertwines various themes: the amplification of the absurd in meta-visuality; the performative seduction of nostalgia; and the engagement with social media as a medium for relational aesthetics.
