Su sūnaus drabužiaisHow do the artworks affect each other? How many times and in what direction? How does the twist of these interactions look like? How often does one artwork inspire the creation of the other one? What are the relationships between the old already produced artworks and the new ones going to be created?  When and why is the produced artwork revised? What are the strategies of appropriation?

These are the topics which are on the schedule for the visitors of Konstantinas Bogdanas exhibition ‘Derivatives and Initials’. All the artworks exhibited, though being very different in content and form, have one common feature (denominator); they all have a (co)partner for the interaction.

“I present the latest artworks and the older ones, none of them being exhibited in Lithuania, alongside with the old well known artworks “- Konstantinas Bogdanas says. “The newer ones, in one or another way, were inspired by the older ones. Therefore, the first ones could be named as derivatives and the second ones – initials. While making this exhibition I was seeking to investigate all possible interactions between the artworks called derivatives and initials. In some cases the artworks are quite independent, their relations could be traced because of the same idea developed, and in other cases due to appropriation they merge and become a part of one another. Appropriation is targeted towards the personal artworks as well as the artworks created by the other artists, e.g.  Adel Abdessemet as well as Eglė Butkutė, Donata Minderytė, Tadas Kanapinskas, Saulius Kmieliauskas and Žymantas Katinas.

P.S. The whole idea of exhibition was made as a derivative action in accordance with the initial one. The exhibition was thought to follow the issue of the catalogue of my oeuvre.  However, the catalogue has not been printed yet, but the exhibition has already started. This is how the initial has turned into derivative.”

Two Thursdays (November 2 and 9) at 6 PM the visitors are invited to meet the artist and tour his show together.
