THE WORLD AROUND ME (is moving faster and faster) by Marko Mäetamm at the Meno parkas gallery

Private view of exhibition “THE WORLD AROUND ME (is moving faster and faster)” by Marko Mäetamm (EE) will be held at 18th of April at 6 pm at the ground floor of gallery “Meno parkas”. Exhibition is part of project “Genomics of The Artwork”. Project’s curator Aušra Vaitkūnienė. Project’s exhibition at “Meno parkas” will be held till May 18th.

Title of Marks’ project – “THE WORLD AROUND ME (is moving faster and faster)”  – is taken from the title of his video installation of 16 short animations which will be the center piece of his installation.

16 tablets on the wall in the exposition where on each of them a pair of hands is tapping text on computer screen to somebody. Just like most of us all do every day by sending e-mails or chatting in Messenger. We all have so much to say because so much is happening around us.

Also inside our souls.

Does it matter to anyone  – this is another question.

Additionally to the installation of 16 videos there will be different items and objects displayed in the room. The connection between these and the 16 stories on the wall can be built in the head of the audience.

About the project “Genomics of the Artwork”

Genomics deals with the forms of matter motion and their reciprocities as well as the systems of interaction with the surroundings. Art is concerned with the forms of movement of thoughts as an expression of matter, their correlations and contexts in the environment. This process is incarnated or not into an artwork, which is a material form of a stable constant.

This final (in)variable form can be seen in museums, exhibition halls and galleries. We see the final manifestation of the hidden creative process, which is presented for the appreciation of the spectators with many unanswered questions. It is important to understand the conditions under which the artwork acquired the present shape, who or what was the prototype or motif in reality, the reason why the artist chose a certain form for his piece of art and the extent to which it associates with the author’s personal experience, or how much it is connected with social archetypes, etc.

The idea of the present exhibition is to reveal the secrets of the creative process, knowing, however, that it is practically impossible to do it completely because of something lying deeply in art which cannot be expressed in words or explained.

Apart from the final version, i.e. a finished piece of art, the exhibition presents the conditions of its origin, reasons and stages of its development.

The extract has been prepared based on the annotation of the project curator – Aušra Vaitkūnienė.
