For three weeks from 17 July to 6 August 2017 Vilnius will be filled with authored texts visible on three-sided outdoor stands. 17 authors with a background in writing are participating in the project: Rolandas Rastauskas, Mindaugas Nastaravičius, Valentinas Klimašauskas, Gabija Grušaitė, Aušra Kaziliūnaitė, Gabrielė Labanauskaitė–Diena, Dangiras Bugas, Lukas Šidlauskas, Žygimantas Kudirka, Stefanija Jokštytė, Tautė Bernotaitė, Remigijus Praspaliauskas, 209, Viktorija Ivanova, Dovilė Bagdonaitė, Viktorija Mačkinytė, Direktorius. They are all inviting to experience and explore the city along with its different places and their distinct characters. It is often not even about the geographical but rather time coordinates, the multilingual and multinational context of the city, various perspectives and assimilations, both social and linguistic.
Vilnius Contexts project aims to move away from the traditional purpose of the stand and instead use it as a vehicle for a message that is not commercial but rather poetic, romantic, essayistic and nostalgic. The visual expression of black text in white background (with the exception of texts by V. Klimašauskas ir R. Praspaliauskas) is a way to liberate ourselves from the visual noise that surrounds us nowadays.
