Styria–Artist-in-Residence (St.A.i.R.) calls for applications

On behalf of the Regional Minister of Culture Mr. Christian Buchmann the Regional Government of Styria allocates scholarships for the year 2015. These scholarships will be for international artists of all kinds as well as for art theorists. It provides living and working space in Graz.

Entitled to participate are artists and art theoretists from Europe and beyond (non-European countries) who look contactss with artists and creative szene in in Graz, Styria. They are allowed a monthly payment of € 850,– for art projects and subsistence.

Housing space is available at the campus of the Afro-Asian Institute Graz (www.aai-graz.at). However, it is not possible to be accompanied by other people (family members, friends…) or pets. The care and networking of the scholars take place through culture initiatives in Graz. A presentation of selected works is scheduled. The period of the scholarship depends on the extent of the artistic intention and the decision of the jury. The scholars have to pay for their travel costs and their material expenses. Furthermore they have to bear costs of all necessary insurances (health and accident insurance) as well as for travel formalities.

The application has to be available in printed form (max.20 pages), a short curriculum vitae, and statements of the desired duration of stay and a description of the artistic /art theoretical working intention. Furthermore examples of former works should be provided, however no originals. It should be pointed out that the application has to arrive by post. If the illustration of artistic works implicitly need to be transmitted by electronic devises (film, video, performance) the following formats have to be used: Film mov, mp4 on DVD or on USB-Stick; Music mp3, mpeg on CD/DVD or USB-Stick. Only complete applications are to be considered.

The dates of accession are to be assigned, whereby desired dates of the candidates will be considered whenever possible.
