In his latest works presented at the exhibition, Zakarauskas continues to explore relations between people (most often man and woman) and between painting and a painter, often manifesting in a biblical subject. His paintings combine multi-figure scenes, fragments of nature, landscapes or cityscapes, with fictional images and abstract segments to create multi-planar compositions. These layered narratives often focus on temporality and rethink historical and personal past, explore the mechanisms of memory, remembrance, longing. Complex time structures of the paintings stretch from the past to the future and back. Thus stories from before become stories not yet told.

ANDRIUS ZAKARAUSKAS (b. 1982) studied painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 2004 he has been a participant in various group exhibitions in Europe and the USA, his works have been presented in prestigious galleries and international contemporary art fairs. Since 2005 he has held numerous solo shows in Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy, and in 2018 he became the first Lithuanian artist to hold a personal exhibition in China. In 2009 he became the winner of the competition “Young Painter‘s Prize”. In 2011 Zakarauskas received a Young Creator Award from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
