vlcsnap-2016-05-27-15h50m07s489On 30th June, 6pm, a  presentation of two short films from the project “Tiltas-Passerelle” will be held at Kaunas Cinema Center “Romuva” (Laisvės al. 54, Kaunas 44246). During presentation will take place small exposition composed of the inmates’ artworks, created during the workshops at prisons in Lithuania and France in 2015.

About the project

Tiltas-Passerelle is an animated short-film and a documentary made after art workshops in a Lithuanian and a French prison. Workshops of the project “Tiltas-Passerelle” that took place with inmates took place in 2015 at Marijampole Correction House (September) and Roanne Prison (November). Inmates were invited to create a story and its visual world inspired by the collections of Lyon Fine Arts Museum and M.K Ciurlonis Museum in Kaunas. Guided by artists from both countries, they experimented drawing, painting, collages, writing, voice recording and sound design. The result is both an insight into their feelings about imprisonment and an escape into an imaginary world. It shows how the universal language of art can be a “tiltas” – a bridge – between oneself, the others and the outside world.

The title of the project “Tiltas-Passerelle” expresses the connection between two different sides – two countries (Lithuania and France), between people hwo are free and imprisoned, between museum and society… That kind of project might became essential, that has chain reaction. The event creates links between various people – starting with artist, museum’s employee, inmate, finishing with the visitor of the exhibition  (which is planned in  2016) or accident passanger.

The goal of these workshops was to develop confidence of the inmates, help to acknowledge tehir positive creativity by using various ways of expression. The final product of the project – an animated short-film – reflectes the harmony of collective –the unity of subtile openings of participants, the sum of different skills.

On June 27th will be held presentation of short films of the project at Marijampolė Correction House.

On June 28th will be held presentation of short films of the project at Prison Department Under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania.
