Wherever you go, the street casts its shadow on you. Mud is thicker than water. Impurity transfers energy. So we removed it. We made the room immune to all currents, safe from influence and doubt. Please leave the room alone. The space has suffered enough. There is always somebody hiding and grasping on straws, somebody passing or humming. Entire perspectives populated with disappointment and hope. So we carved the room out of the city and somebody put up a tent on it, then a hand passed by and left some writings. The floor smells of trains.
Anastasia Sosunova (b. 1993) is a visual artist based in Vilnius. Her practice encompasses video, graphic art, sculpture and installation, and revolves around laws of contemporary culture and biopolitics. Exploring her surroundings and interacting with communities, she analyzes collective and individual myths of the “alien” in social and ecological contexts. In her current projects, she’s working with structures of scarcity environments and identity narratives.
Anastasia gained a BA in Graphic Arts and an MA in Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. She was a participant of Rupert Alternative Education program, worked as an intern at Laure Prouvost studio in Antwerp and kim? Contemporary Art Center in Riga.
She participates in various shows in art institutions as well as unconventional spaces. The group shows and screenings include StartPoint Prize, Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery, Prague, 2017; No escape for now, Kvartalas, Vilnius, 2016; A Show as/on (Artistic) Research, Malonioji 6, Vilnius; and others. Her solo shows include Demikhov Dog at Culture and Sports Center, Ignalina, and The Feast as part of eeKūlgrinda project in the abandoned supermarket building in Kartena. Her upcoming projects are: Transeuropa fluid residency and a group show at the former employment center in Hildesheim; Funen Art Academy residency in Odense; group shows in Lithuania, Italy and US.
Andrea Zucchini (b.1987, Brescia, Italy) lives and works in London. He holds an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Fine Art and History of Art from Goldsmiths.
