Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association presents a third workshop this season called „Revealing unreachable intruders: a brief guide to visualize the invisible landscape of our electronic self“ by Luis Bustamante, a Berlin-based artist during his short-term residency in Lithuania. All welcome to register and take part.

Electromagnetism has been a morphing concept since the 18th century until now. Nowadays radiation is constantly traversing our private spaces and bodies and we are more aware of them than ever. Nonetheless, if one is not hypersensitive to these frequencies, there is still plenty of creative room in the quest to view or experience this invisible flow, its sources and its effects. Participants will become familiar with the subject of standard open-hardware and software tools and will be able to design their own visualization Ideas.
The workshop will start with a small presentation of related projects and reviewing some of the technologies involved. Experience with scripting-programming helps but it’s not crucial.

Participants will need to bring a laptop and a copy of the *processing* programming environment installed (http://processing.org). Android-operated phones could be interesting though not necessary.

Luis is a Colombian media artist and designer, lives and works between Bogotá and Berlin. In parallel to his freelance work as motion designer, he develops personal and collective projects that usually take form as installations or animations. One of his interests is exploring narratives between surveillance technology and artistic creation, using the help of open datasets, software and hardware. He has developed projects at diverse Media Art institutions like the ZKM in Germany and the Medialab Prado in Madrid.

Workshop language: English
