The exhibition will only remain open six days for Šiauliai city residents and visitors. Ernestas Verba, student of Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Art Gymnasium, will perform during the opening ceremony (vibraphone). Concept of the Exhibition. A photographic presentation for the city residents and visitors will be held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Remigijus Venckus, a well-known media artist coming from Šiauliai. Fragments of the photography series Stripe of Amnesia will be displayed. This is the eleventh exhibition of a three year cycle. Another exhibition will be opened in Berlin a month later.

The new exhibition reveals bold scrutiny of photography media and organic integration of an analogical and digital image by the author. Through his works, the artist appeals to the audience and poses a provocative question about space and time. Encouraging reconsideration of the categories important for identification, time and space specifically, the author contemplates: It seems as though I sense your existence in a specific location, space and time right away, in an instant, at a glance. As soon as I turn away however my experience breaks up, dissolves, clouds up retaining fragments of clarity, that are not always significant. So do we, I and you, really perceive time and space? Aren’t we just trying to veneer our inability and ignorance with frivolous speech ornaments such as ”yesterday”, ”today”, ”tomorrow” or ”was”, ”is”, ”will be”? […] Without fully realizing the time, we give it away to another and proudly declare, ”I devote my time to meeting with you in a certain place, acceptable and convenient for us”… […] Disremembering the place we formerly visited, we are trying to remember it unaltered. Hence the place is being restored astray. It is made-up. It is no longer self-identical. […] The time we do not know and the place we do not remember are often established as one of the many possibilities of compensating the fragmented self. When we use the image, audio record, speech, and other suchlike media, we often believe that we build (or reproduce) our unity with time and space. […] We are happy to devote time to another although we have never known or perhaps never had it (time)… How flippant and preposterous we are to give away things we do not possess and do not know…
