“Lately I have had the desire to depict a new, non-existing world. These are visually readable images, buildings and ornaments existing solely on the canvas. In a way this is an alternative model of perception and comprehension to the modern day era – overwhelmed by photography epidemic. The greatest challenge the future reality will face is its origin, it will no longer be made by the human mind based on resemblance to Gods, rather generated by a computer program. But perhaps the artificial intelligence will swell and be able to simulate Divine revelations and Oceanichfeelings?
The exhibition is made up of two parts, first being the Salon of Order Making Tools, other – the Hall of Levitating Structures. Scenography of the exhibition is opposing the ancient patriarchal era, when the paintings were displayed to the viewer in an established order. Concurrently, it opposes an already retiring era of contemporary art, as it is made up of paintings created in classical manner with a strictly readable structure in them. The exhibition serves as a tool communicating to the viewer a sense of dynamism and an era of change, simultaneously showing the instability and vulnerability of this structured and mathematical environment. Therefore, the works are exhibited in an irregular way, giving a sense of movement and gravity to the exhibition. We live under pressure concerned about tomorrow because currently the world is experiencing continuous rapid change. Generally we are given the impression of a controlled and organized world around us. Yet, it is permeated by some strings of chaos. All that is left to do – just take a deep breath and take what proceeds with ease… ”

Andris Vītoliņš is a Latvian artist (born 1975 in Liepāja). Studied and now working in Art Academy of Latvia as a Professor in the painting department, Pro-rector in Creative and Administrative work of the Art Academy of Latvia.
