Photo reportage from the exhibition ‘Nature’s Fool – Artist’s Cool’ by Povilas Ramanauskas at Meno parkas gallery

The title of the exhibition originated from an old Russian artists’ saying/jargon well-known by most of artists. This vivacious and ironic slogan fit and opened even more different meanings, in the sense of particular nuances of the context of arts. In the newest exhibition you will find paintings and objects, that still continue telling the story of painting and the search of its’ boundaries. This time the author introduces a new experimental „character“, one more visually responding way of exploration of contemporary art.

In the exhibition we can see a particular motive – horse‘s blinders which are used as a symbol of  narrow seeing and thinking, position against a wider approach to creation. It emerged from daily life situations when meeting people from artistic field who „wear“ blinders. This motive is open to interpretation in wider creation context.

So the „flexible painting“ is coming to help the stupid blinders wearer. This experimental „character“ – it‘s a large scale painting which tries to oppose him with variety and flexibility.

Vincent Van Gogh – the hero of painting, the symbol of creator – joins the discussion. The mythical personality is reflecting the deformed fragments of the mode of life in these contexts of art and contemporary painting research.

Povilas Ramanauskas (born 1987) is a young generation visual arts artist from Kaunas, Lithuania. He has graduated from Painting Masters studies at VDA KF in 2012. One of the main areas as for an artist, is looking for contemporary painting strategies. P. Ramanauskas has already held 10 personal exhibitions, participated in multiple group exhibitions and arts projects in Lithuania and abroad as well.
