‘Painless Youth’ by Marta Trektere at Editorial, Vilnius

Editorial project space is excited to present a performance ‘Painless Youth’ by Latvian artist Marta Trektere with accompanying music by Kaspars Groševs. Performance starts at 7 pm, on the 16th of March, 2019.

“It seemed impractical to prefer a painless old age to a painless youth. There is no end toward which a painless old age is a better means than a painless youth. But it makes sense to say that attention to the place of pain of one’s life should increase as one ages.” – Marta Trektere.

Marta Trektere (b. 1994) is a performance artist, writer and an independent curator based Riga, Latvia. Currently co-running artist-run space 427 gallery in Riga. Trektere’s works addresses simplicity of complexity in everyday life as well as psychological difficulties in life, art and text working with various media like performance, text, video, sound.

Kaspars Groševs (b. 1983) is an artist and curator based in Riga. He has had solo/duo shows at Low gallery, Riga; Latvian National Museum of Art, Riga; Futura, Prague; C.C. von Strizky’s villa, Riga; Shanaynay, Paris; Kim? Contemporary Art Centre, Riga. His work has been shown at group shows at Bozar, Brussels; SIC, Helsinki; Latvian Institute Rome, Rome; CAC, Vilnius; Careof, Milano; Art in General, New York; Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, a.o. Kaspars Groševs performs with his music under Figūras alias and is occasionally writing for Latvian culture press. Co-founder and curator of 427 gallery in Riga.
