We invite the artists of various fields to participate in the interdisciplinary symposium in Dzūkija National Park.
Please send your short creative description and suggestion how you imagine your input and presentation form to verpejos@gmail.com before July 28th.

RIVER BENDS – local artistic research

During the symposium, a hike will take place from the source of Skroblus through the Kapiniškės Landscape Reserve to the mouth of the stream in the Merkys Landscape Reserve. During the trip, we will meet scientists and naturalists who have explored the objects of the natural heritage of the valley, protected species, place names, history. Due to its uniqueness, the stream is protected by the Skroblaus Nature Strict Reserve, which also includes Rudnelė village. Paradox – the artist Gražina Didelytė, who lived in this forbidden for visitors place, founded her own art gallery. Her unseen series of works “The River Bends”, has become a source of inspiration for organizing a symposium as a platform to reflect on new natural and cultural changes of the place.

Preliminary Program:

August 16-18 hike by the Skroblaus stream.
August 19-22 rest, discussion, collaboration and creative time in Marcinkonys.
August 23 opening of a new exhibition, residency and meeting space in Marcinkonys. Presentation of the symposium and exhibition of works by Gražina Didelytė.
