Open call for the Tartu Artist in Residence Programme for 2016

Tartu Artist in Residence Program (TAiR) announces an open call for the year 2016, to work from one to three month period in the scenic city of Tartu, Estonia.

For 2016, we are looking forward to projects connected to the theme of “Being second”. This derives from the position of the city of Tartu in Estonia — it is the second-biggest city of the nation and as such is constantly struggling to find that one thing (those things) that would allow it to overcome the physical constraints and be the best in something else. Maybe it could be the fact that Tartu hosts seven institutes of higher education or the fact that it has one of the highest number of museums per capita of any European nation. Or something else — we feel that artistic contemplation of this idea will help the city to gain a stronger identity.

We are expecting applications from artists of all creative disciplines and will be able to cover part of the expenses for the artist. The deadline for applications is 30.09.2015 and the results will be announced on 05.11.15.
