Online Artist Talk: Alan Huck and Tytus Szabelski

The ISSP Riga Residency had to temporarily stop its work due to the virus situation, however, the meeting with our latest artists in residence – Alan Huck (USA) and Tytus Szabelski (Poland) is happening online! As usual, its an opportunity to virtually meet both artists, hear about their previous work, as well as the projects started in Riga.

Alan Huck (1990) is a photographer and writer based in the southeastern United States. His practice is mainly concerned with using various image-text strategies and with essayistic works that reflect back upon the activity of making. He received his MFA from the Hartford Art School and his first book, “I walk toward the sun which is always going down”, was published by MACK in September of 2019. An excerpt from his ongoing text project, “The Mute Testimony”, will appear in the anthology Reading Room, published by Dispersed Holdings, later this year.

Tytus Szabelski (1991) is a photographer and visual artist from Poland. He studied journalism and social communication and is now is conducting doctoral studies at the Faculty of Photography of the University of Art in Poznań. He has worked with Center of Contemporary Art in Toruń, Miłość Gallery in Toruń and “Krytyka Polityczna” (“Political Critique”) magazine. Tytus has received numerous awards and scholarships, both local and international. He is one of the selected emerging curators in the Parallel programme and editor of “Postmedium” art academic journal.
