Time that passed, always leaves marks, signs which characterizes various distinguish stages of mankind movement in time. There are various changes: political, economical, cultural. And all of this makes passed time, which we remember by reading the signs, seeing the marks that time left, the result which we are experiencing in the present.

The purpose of this creative work is to give a sence to the historical memory of Lithuania in order to convey our nation‘s path and determination to preserve global values. To convey the profound textile traditions of our nation in the conceptual form of the work.

This cycle of textile works represents history of our nation, events that Lithuania has experienced: the centenary of the Restoration of the Lithuanian State, 13th of January, the exhile, freedom fights of the partisans, etc. Main idea is to present historical memory through art to the public, as a document, who would always remind that Freedom has its price, which is flooded with blood of the heroes, to foster emancipation of the society, to educate young people, future generations.

In 2008 I participated in the project Scientific – Exploratory Expedition “Cultural Heritage – Sacral Textiles” organized by Raseiniai Museum of History. During the project we visited various churches of Raseiniai, studied fabric techniques, ribbons, emroidery of sacral textile. Now I‘m using these techniques in my creative work as the continuation and preservation of our heritage for future generations.

The texts that I‘m using in my works, are taken from national anthem, poems, Lithuanian folk songs that been reflecting various historical points of the Lithuanian centenary. Songs and mantras of Heroes that died for Independence on January 13th, songs that sounded in the lips and hearts of Lithuanians. Exhiles and partisan prayers which accompanied our nation during this period.
