maajaam_about_title

MAAJAAM, a non-profit artist run project space in an old farm in the countryside of Southern Estonia, calls for people and projects to be involved with throughout year 2014. All artists/hackers/makers/thinkers are welcome to apply!

MAAJAAM is concentrated on researching of, experimenting with and reflecting on the relationships between people, technology and nature. We try to look at this broad topic through the prism of art. The outcome can take any shape or be presented in any medium.

Possibilities

The proposals should fit into one the categories:

You inspire MAAJAAM
We are looking for projects to create new temporary/permanent installations/interventions in the outdoor/indoor space of MAAJAAM.

MAAJAAM inspires you
Being in MAAJAAM could ignite new ideas. We are looking for little sparks of creativity to be developed or tested out.

You inspire others
The space has the possibility to host a public workshop for maximum of 6 people at once. Presentations of the workshop can also take place in Tartu or Tallinn.

Pull the plug
It’s a perfect place for quiet residency, so you are welcome to stay for a while without any project.

Funding

MAAJAAM is a non-profit artist run space that just came into existence, so the funding for projects is minimal at the moment. However there is a small budget available for new local permanent installations. At least for 2014, MAAJAAM is rent free.

We can help with applying for funding. Some deadlines for grants:
05.02 Norden mobility program (for Nordic and Baltic citizens)
20.02 Cultural Endowment of Estonia – production, travel grants
09.04 Norden mobility program (for Nordic and Baltic citizens)
20.05 Cultural Endowment of Estonia – production, travel grants
Rolling deadline Step Beyond travel grant (for countries neighboring EU)

Deadline

There is no specific deadline for proposals, but it’s wiser to do it before the snow melts. The choosing of projects would start then.
Or before the deadlines of grants.

Please observe the current snow level in the closest city Otepää.

Calendar

The active season of 2014 lasts from June until mid September. Please refer to the calendar to check for free time.

All projects and documentation will be presented as an exhibition during MAAJAAM Festival in September.
