On Thursday, 17 January at 5 p.m. Lithuanian painting exhibition “LeeduMaal” will be opened in the Tartu Art House.

Although Lithuania and Estonia are closely related not only geographically and historically, but also culturally, our knowledge about each other is scarce. While artists and art critics in both countries are familiar with the prominent painters from Lithuania and Estonia who have left their mark and influences in art history, the painters of younger generation, and the representatives of contemporary painting are virtually unknown.

“LeeduMaal” exhibition aims to close this gap by including twelve Lithuanian painters who are currently active in cultural sphere, creating and exhibiting their works locally and internationally. Appreciated by critics and art lovers, their works are included in public and private collections across Europe and beyond.

Curator Peeter Krosmann adds: “The exhibition is introducing various painting genres and styles; it represents the trends of contemporary Lithuanian painting, allowing to look for its connotations with global context. Both young and mature painters from various regions of Lithuania have been selected for the exhibition, providing the opportunity to get acquainted with wide scope of Lithuanian art.”

Exhibition is curated by Miglė Kosinskaitė and Peeter Krosmann.
